Rev. William Pierce Auxier
1842 - 1900

It seems inappropriate to close this little work without making mention of the one who devoted his young life to the service of the Master. At the age of nineteen, while attending a revival conducted by old Brother Wiseman and others at the Auxier Chapel, Willie was converted and soon thereafter entered the ministry. From the first, his preaching was effective for he was gifted with power from on high and his sermons were delivered with inspiration. To prepare for his chosen work he attended school at Barboursville, West Virginia for several terms. He also taught one term of school.

Few young men have stood higher among the people, both at home and abroad, than did Willie Auxier. He was a favorite in the conference and among all the younger members. Slowly, but surely, his health declined at the approach of that dread disease, tuberculosis. In hope of recovery, he spent several months in the Southwest but seeing the end as inevitable, he came home to Kentucky to die. Agnes Auxier circa 1908
