Corrections To Be Made
The Auxier cousins who attended the 2000 reunion in Paintsville KY have been reading their books for several days. The rest of the family is waiting for the mailman to deliver their copies. This page of the Auxier web site is for posting any and all corrections that need to be made to the Second Edition of "The Auxier Family." They will also be listed in the Auxier Newsletter at a later date.
The genealogy research will continue. There is still a lot of work to be done and discoveries to be made. All corrections or additions to the second edition of "The Auxier Family" may be mailed to me, Judith Tickel Need, at the address listed in the Auxier Newsletter or e-mailed to this web site.

#3945 Nathaniel Auxier Griswold, born November 14, 1904, died March 4, 1951
Nathaniel Auxier Griswold was a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force when he died. He served in the Army during World War II, was discharged and attended the University of Kentucky, 1945-1946 where he completed his degree in history. He was working on a master's at the time of his death. Nat was not a lieutenant. His brother Verner was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. Nathaniel and his brother Thomas Everett both died on March 4, 1951 of heart attacks, but not within 45 minutes of each other. Nathaniel listed Ernest (my father) as next-on-kin after the death of his parents. My father received the telegram, delivered by taxi from Portsmouth, Ohio, to Fullerton, Kentucky, about 1:00 p.m. He left for Lucille's house after dinner; they subsequently waited for the phone rates to change to a lower rate before calling anyone. The telegram stated his time of death to be about 8:30 a.m. My father, Ernest, later that summer picked up Nat's car in Florida on the way home from Texas where he had been employed as an engineer on the construction of one of the big pipelines. He pulled Nat's green Chevrolet to Kentucky behind his pickup truck without mishap. On his visit to the Florida air base, Ernest talked to the men who shared the barracks with Nat and was told by them that Nat died with a sudden death heart attack shortly after breakfast.
#3946 Ernest Elmer Griswold, born February 22, 1907, died September 3, 1971
Ernest Griswold graduated from Morehead State University, Morehead, Kentucky in 1934. He received a B.S. with majors in mathematics, chemistry and physics. He attended Wayne University, Detroit, Michigan during World War II while employed by General Motors and New York Central Railroad. One of the projects he worked on at General Motors was the B-29 Liberator bomber along with about 150 other engineers. Previously, he had taught eight years at Harlan High School, Harlan, Kentucky, worked at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, OH and on the construction of an airfield in Bainbridge, GA. After World War II, he attended he University of Kentucky School of Engineering, and from then on, had a varied career of school teaching, surveying, engineering on various types of construction projects, including Dewey Dam, Prestonsburg, Kentucky, and was the Greenup County Sanitarian at the time of his death.
