Second Generation
A. Christian Auxer and his
family arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 15, 1749. They sailed
on the ship "Edinburgh". The family
remained in Pennsylvania settling near Elizabeth Town in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
He died at the age of 58 and was buried in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania on September 5,
1767. He was a widower, with one daughter, when he married Maria Barbara Wentz, July 24, 1742, in Germany. She died at age 78 and
was also buried in Lancaster County on March 5, 1788. They were the parents of
four
children.

B. John Michael Axer died in Virginia in August of 1777. On December 21, 1746, in Tulpehocken Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania, he married Maria Barbary Spiess. She was born in Germany the daughter of Ulrich Speiss. Their children were;

Auxer married Catherine Danner in St John's Episcopal Church on February 19,
1778. They made their home near Lancaster, Pennsylvania. They were the parents of 10

George Auxier
was born between 1747 and 1753. He was married twice. The name of his first
wife is unknown. His second marriage was to Dorcas Shelly. George's first home
was Russell County, Virginia. He moved to Franklin County, Georgia and
later moved to Montgomery County, Kentucky where he died in 1809. The children
from the first marriage were a daughter and

Simon
Auxier came to the Big Sandy Valley about the same time as his younger brother
Samuel. The name of his first wife is unknown and she probably died before he
came to Kentucky from Virginia. He married for the second time in Lawrence County,
Kentucky to Mary Elizabeth Fugate. Simon's grave in the Hopson Cemetery near
Auxier, Kentucky has been marked by the D.A.R. Simon's children from his first

B8. Samuel Auxier I was born in Hampshire County, Virginia about 1759. He married Sarah "Sallie" Brown in Culpeper County, Virginia on July 15, 1779. Samuel and Sallie owned 180 acres on the head of Copper Creek in Russell County, Virginia which they sold in 1793 before they began the journey into the Big Sandy Valley of Kentucky. They settled their family in the area of Johnson County, Kentucky known as the Blockhouse Bottom. Samuel died in 1799. Samuel was riding with neighbors when his horse spooked and threw him violently against a tree. He sustained serious chest injuries and died a few days later. Sallie died in April of 1862. B9. Michael Auxier will forever be known in the annals of family lore as "BaldHeaded Mike." The story behind the nickname is bizarre and the stuff of which legends are made. According to Agnes Auxier, Michael was stalking deer at a salt lick near Fort Blackmore, Virginia when he was surprised by an Indian who knocked him senseless with a tomahawk and relieved him of his scalp. Luckily, the wounds were not fatal. Michael survived the ordeal and wore a hat at all times thereafter to cover the horrible scars left by his encounter with the Indian at the salt lick. B2-2 James Auxier was born in Kentucky. He married Elizabeth Ewing in Kentucky about 1810. They made their home in Preble County, Ohio. In 1856 James and Elizabeth bought land in Warren County, Indiana. Several of their children moved to Warren County with them and others remained in Ohio. James was a bitter opponent of slavery, strong in his convictions and fearless in upholding what he believed to be right. James died in 1873, he and Elizabeth are buried near Williamsport, Indiana.
